Special Events
- Solar Eclipse, Monday, April 8th, 2-4:30 pm
  Pick up your solar eclipse glasses then join us outside to watch the Eclipse. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs or towels to sit on.

  Join us as we create bookmarks to celebrate National Library Week.

  Join us as we create a spring craft to celebrate National Library Week.

  Stop by the front desk say hi and receive a new book.
- Stress Buster, April 18th, 6:00 pm
  Want to know about diamond dots. Join us for an evening of relaxation and leave with a beautiful canvas picture.

Special Events
- Free Comic Book Day, Saturday, May 4th, All Day
  Chatham Library invites you to Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 4th! Join us to pick up a free comic (one per person while supplies last), have some snacks, take selfies at our superhero selfie station, and enjoy a few comic-themed activities. Check out anything from our collection of graphic novels to be entered into a drawing for a Free Comic Book Day swag bag! Costumes are encouraged. All ages welcome.
- Friends Spring Book Sale, Friday, May 3rd, 10:00 am-5:00 pm & Saturday, May 4th, 10:00 am-2:00 pm
  The two-day book sale will be open Friday, May 3, 10:00 am-5:00 pm and Saturday, May 4, 10:00 am-2:00 pm. The sale will be held at the Ennis Building, 340 Whitehead St, across from the Pittsylvania County History Research Center & Library.
  Proceeds from the book sale help support the library’s summer reading program, the Bookmobile, and many other library-related programs.

- Take and Make Cricut Craft, Monday, May 13th, all day
  While supplies last, take home a Cricut craft kit to make a Watering Pail! Craft kits are for teens and adults. Limit 1 per person. Everything is provided except the glue and optional extras. Instructions for the video are included in the kit.

  Stop in and pick up a free comic book.

- Teen Zone, 3rd Thursday of the Month, 3:30–4:30 pm
  Teen Zone is a program is for those in grades 6-12 and features a variety of activities. Get creative and express yourself by exploring, designing, and experimentation with crafts and S.T.E.A.M. activities.
- Bingo for Books, Tuesday, May 21st, 4:30 pm
  Patrons of all ages are welcome to join us for an afternoon of Bingo. Win a game, pick a book as your prize!

- Soop Your Superhero, Saturday, May 4th, 11:00 am
  Kids, Teens & Adults are invited to make your action figure look like more like the characters in the movies! Bring your own action figure to paint, or choose one of ours.

- Rock Painting on the Patio, Tuesday, May 7th, 4:30 pm
  Paint a rock to live outside at the library in our patio garden space. Registration required.
- Painting a Spring Scene, Wednesday, May 8th, 2:00 pm
  Paint a spring scene on canvas, step by step. Space is limited, call 434-835-0326 or stop by to reserve your spot. There is a $5 fee.
- Mother/Daughter Tea, Saturday, May 11th, 11:00 am
  Celebrate Mother’s Day during this special event with tea and treats. Registration required.
- Galaxy Emojis Painting, Tuesday, May 14th, 4:30 pm
  Design your own emoji on canvas with a galaxy background. Registration required.
- Book Bingo, Tuesday, May 13th, 4:00 pm
  It’s time to play B-I-N-G-O at Mt. Hermon Library, and the prizes are our very favorite thing – books! We have books of every age and genre to give away.
- The Tortured Poets Department, Tuesday, May 21st, 4:30 pm
  A Swiftie fan club, meets monthly. Space is limited; registration required.
- BookTok Your Summer, Wednesday, May 29th, 4:30 pm
  Kick off your Summer of All the Books with BookTok suggestions from the library and each other!

Hoopla -- Instantly borrow free digital movies, music, ebooks, digital audiobooks, TV shows, and comic books with your library card. 24/7 availability of hundreds of thousands of items, no holds. Five checkouts per library card per month. Did we mention it’s free?

Explora -- Explore hundreds of topics in thousands of magazines, encyclopedias, journals, and videos. EBSCO Explora is a great resource to find articles and information for school reports, projects, and more. Provided by the Library of VA.

Homework HelpNow -- Connect LIVE with a certified tutor, seven days a week between 2 and 11 pm, for help with assignments and research, including math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and more! Submit papers to a tutor in the Writing Lab for constructive feedback or take practice exams and create your own flashcards to prepare for tests. Tutoring is available in English and Spanish.

Transparent Language -- Transparent Language Online offers in-depth, self-paced classes that focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking over +140 languages. Courses include various Indigenous languages, ASL, and ESL/ELL materials in 34 languages. Provided by the Library of VA.
