- Earth Day - Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
Earth Day is the perfect time to celebrate Spring and go outside as a community for a Clean Up Day. Many hands make light work, and you’ll see results quickly when everyone pitches in. Bring rakes, shovels, and other yard work tools to help tidy up around the library in anticipation of the final push to get our new tiered outdoor area ready for the warmer months. - Tiny Art Show – Monday, April 7th-Saturday, April 12th
Create your own tiny masterpiece for our Tiny Art Show! This free program is open to all ages and skill levels; drop in anytime from April 1st-4th to pick up a tiny canvas to create a tiny artwork to exhibit during the Tiny Art Show or join us for a Tiny Art Session to create your masterpiece at the library. Tiny Art Sessions will be held on Tuesday, April 1st at 4:00 pm and Thursday, April 3rd at 11:00 am. The theme is Drawn to the Library. All Art must be turned into the Chatham Library by Saturday, April 5th.The Tiny Art Show will be exhibited at the library during the National Library Week, April 7th-12th. Public will vote on “Best in Show”!The library reserves the right to exclude any works.

The annual Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale in Chatham is almost here! This event, hosted by the Chatham Friends of the Library, offers a great selection of hardback and paperback books, DVDs, children’s books, and more. The sale will be held at the Ennis Building, 340 Whitehead St, across from the Pittsylvania County History Research Center & Library. Proceeds from the book sale help support the library’s summer reading program, the Bookmobile, and many other library-related programs. -
Superhero Fest – Saturday, May 3rd, 10am-2pm
Chatham Library invites you to celebrate your favorite Superhero on Saturday, May 3rd! Join us for crafts, have some snacks, take selfies at our superhero selfie station, and enjoy a morning of sup-themed activities. Costumes are encouraged! All ages.

On the second and fourth Friday each month, children are invited to practice their reading skills by sharing a book with a furry friend. Reading to therapy dogs can help improve kids' confidence in their reading abilities as well as help with emotional and social skills. Drop-in between 3:00 to 4:30 pm to give your child an opportunity to practice their reading skills one-on-one with a trained therapy dog. - Lego Club – Tuesday, April 8th, 3:45 - 4:45 pm

Baby Tales is an interactive literacy program designed for children ages 0-24 months. Children and caregivers are introduced to the basic building blocks of literacy through nursery rhymes, stories, finger plays, and music in a fun and educational environment. Programs may include time for unstructured play and socialization. - Story Time - Wednesdays, April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and May 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 10:30 am – 11:00 am
Story Time is an interactive literacy program designed for children ages 2-5 years. Children and caregivers are introduced to basic building blocks of literacy through stories, rhymes, and music in a fun and educational environment. Program may end with a brief activity. - LEGO Challenge - 1st Wednesday of the Month, April 2 & May 7 at 3:30 – 4:30 pm
LEGO Challenge is an interactive multi-literacy program that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) concepts aimed at developing innovation, imagination, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. School age children are introduced to the building blocks of one or more S.T.E.A.M learning concepts through exploratory hands-on activities in a fun and educational environment. School age children integrate engineering concepts and their imagination with hands-on building challenges with LEGO bricks. - Art Explorers - 2nd Wednesday of the Month, May 7 and May 7 at 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Art Explorers is an interactive multi-literacy program that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.) concepts aimed at developing innovation, imagination, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
